At last it is out of cold storage - my official Top 10 Samurai Films.

It took me a really long time to get this out - over a combination of work, writer's block, and pure lethargy.

So who made the list? Who are the usual suspects? And who's the biggest suspect of them all? Just click on the damn link will you?

Moovy Revue: Les Diables (2002)

Nowadays, with the exception of maybe those sci-fi action blockbusters, Hollywood films really don't cut it for me any more. Way too commercialised.

If you want stories about life, art house, or even controversial, you need to go European. That's where the flavour really is. Like the 2002 French film Les Diables, mixing themes of violence, incest and underaged nudity even. Now that's controversy - and you'll never see this in an American cinema.
Les Diables: They're no angels.
Now before you pedophiles out there start getting ideas, you should know that European films portray life as is. No glitz and glamour. Just true grit - and not that Hollywood kind....

You can find out more about the film on Moovy Revue here.

Top 10 Chinese Wuxia Films

Long before the days of Tsui Hark, Jet Li & Tony Leung, there were the One Armed Swordsman, Ti Lung, David Chiang and Flying Guillotine.

Those were the heady days of wuxia I'm sure - but not my days.

I like my wuxia with fantastic, fantastic martial choreography plus a good story to boot. Which means that modern wuxia is good enough for me....

Here's 10 good reasons to catch the genre, and don't worry, there's even a representative from those heady days....
